FELINE celebrity, Betty, leapt to national and international acclaim after her power-line antics in Cam last Friday.

The Gazette followed the story with regular updates but Betty also found herself featured in the media across the world.

Betty chose a perch on a 30ft high power-line in The Crescent late on Thursday, January 19 and got stuck.

Fire crews from Dursley were on the scene to prevent any cat-astrophe with a tarpaulin.

Teams from the RSPCA were also present to rescue Betty.

The black and white moggy was eventually retrieved by a Western Power worker, who also turned off the power for the whole street for 20 minutes to conduct the rescue mission.

Betty caused a social media frenzy over the course of Friday, but luckily it was a happy ending, and she returned to her owner, Emily Strain, feline fine.

News of Betty's rescue was picked up by websites including The Sun, Mail Online, The Mirror and Australian TV network 7 News Sydney.
