THE chairman of the Wotton Day Centre is stepping down after 13 years of loyal service to elderly members of the community.
Lesley Holland’s work for the charity has been described as “brilliant” by her colleagues and she is to be celebrated at a commemorative event later this week.
The Wotton Day Centre is a charity which provides a friendly social gathering once a week for elderly people who live alone.
It has offered them various entertainment such as bingo, Scrabble, quizzes and occasional outings, since it was founded in 1984.
A 'Thank You' toast is to be given in honour of Mrs Holland’s service at The Civic Centre (2nd Floor, Coombe Suite) at 11am on Thursday, April 27, when the committee and members will thank her for all that she has done for the charity.
Attendees will also be thanking Mrs Holland’s husband, Paul, for all the volunteer driving he has done over the years.
