FOR THE first time in its 12-year history, a Wotton-under-Edge arts centre will be exploring the town’s gardens.

Sculptures, art and crafts will be brought together in gardens across the town and in neighbouring Coombe for the Wotton Art Gardens event over the May Day bank holiday weekend.

Organised by Under the Edge Arts, the two-day trail will be made-up of 15 venues which will open from 10am until 5pm on Sunday, April 30 and Monday, May 1.

Gardens which form the trail include Coombe Lodge, Kingswood House and Blackwood.

Tickets are £6 each (free for under-12s) and cover both days of the event. They can be bought in advance at Fifi’s Fancy Furniture or Fish Out of Water or at each individual venue.

Sculptures will be on display at several of the gardens and crafts and plants will be for sale.

A large calico with hand-sewn portrayals of Wotton landmarks will adorn the walls at Under the Edge Arts’ Chipping Hall headquarters and will be the first time the piece has gone on public display.

Artist Seb Braun will display some of his children’s book illustrations whilst a whole host of other pieces will be on show for the two-day event.
