A NEW assistant chief constable has been appointed by Gloucestershire Constabulary.

Julian Moss was handed the promotion after 25 years in the force with considerable experience in neighbourhood policing.

His work in the force has taken him from beat manager and later superintendent for neighbourhood policing and partnerships in Bristol, followed to neighbourhood inspector in Bath and local policing commander in North Somerset.

This was followed by a role as temporary assistant chief constable for Avon and Somerset police.

The assistant chief constable said: “I am delighted about the prospect of working for the constabulary in which I live.

“The police and crime commissioner’s crime plan is something I feel really excited about and I am looking forward to playing my part in maintaining and redefining neighbourhood policing so we can remain visible in our communities and still tackle the issues that really affect people.”

Julian is married with three children and has lived in Stroud district for 14 years.
