STAFF from a care home in Dursley were among the honourees at an event hosted by Stroud district council for employers who help equip young people for work.

Members of the Henlow Court team attended the event at SDC headquarters in Ebley Mill to collect the Skills for Stroud Employability Charter.

The charter mark provides businesses, schools and colleges with accreditation to ensure that their role in helping young people in the workplace genuinely equips them for the world of work.

Home manager Sian Sparrow and care leader Rebekah Storey-Young represented the care home staff at the event.

Sian said: “We are so proud at Henlow Court to have gained our Skills for Stroud Employability Charter.

“The team have worked hard to provide a high standard of activities and experiences for those that come to the home on placements and work experience over the years.

“Rebekah has over the last few years been able to facilitate going into the community to support schools in their careers events locally and around the Gloucestershire area.

“The culmination of this hard work has awarded us the charter.”

Staff from Henlow Court visited Katherine Lady Berkeley’s school in Wotton, Thomas Keble in Stroud and The Forest High School in Cinderford to advise pupils about work in the care industry.

Henlow also offer work placements for trainee nurses and school pupils, Duke of Edinburgh award students and volunteers from across Gloucestershire.
