AFTER hearing the stories of the parents and pupils who say they have experienced serious bouts of bullying at Rednock, it is difficult to believe that there is not a problem there.
Among the experiences of Rednock pupils past and present are incidents which have led young people to crisis point, attempting suicide and inflicting self-harm.
These are not incidents which can be answered with statements such as ‘we take bullying very seriously’, they must be tackled head on and the bullies involved should be made an example of, especially when they have been accused of goading fellow pupils into self-harm.
The encounters described by the parents and pupils go far beyond the levels of playground teasing which most people expect in schools.
Bullying will always take place while children jockey for popularity and battle insecurity and our sympathy goes out to the pupils who have had to experience these awful incidents.
Parents will be horrified to hear this is occurring where their children will be educated, and new action must be taken.
