A VACANT shop unit in Cam High Street will be converted into a flat due to “a lack of demand for shops” in the village.
Stroud District Council has approved an application to develop the unit at 25/27 High Street into a one-bedroom flat after a business tenant could not be found.
The building was marketed for 26 months from December 2015 by Bennett Jones and, despite being viewed online more than 115,000 times, no firm came forward to take over.
Constructed in 2001 and 2002, the row of business units was originally completely occupied but a lack of demand resulted in the conversion of the northernmost unit to residential use in 2013.
