THE process of installing a phone mast on a playing field in Berkeley has been started after the town council gave it the go-ahead.
Telecommunications firm Shared Access has offered the council £30,000 in exchange for it installing a 15m mast at Canon Park recreation field on a 25-year lease.
Berkeley Town Council was told that Vodafone was interested in improving its 4G coverage in Berkeley at its meeting on Monday.
The council agreed to pursue the process, which involves a two-week public consultation, which is expected to take about four months.
