NATIONAL safety gear supplier Greenham has marked the opening of its newest store by donating £2,500 to a Slimbridge-based wetlands charity.

Greenham, which specialises in workers' safety clothing, launched its first Somerset shop at the beginning of the month.

To mark the milestone, the company invited representatives from the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) to the Bridgwater store to accept a cheque for £2,500.

Together with volunteer Roy Osborne, Sue Heritage, corporate partnerships manager for the WWT, made a visit.

She said: "The £2,500 donation was a wonderful gesture to support our fundraising and conservation work.

"WWT is a conservation charity that saves wetlands.

"Wetlands are the primary source of drinking water for people and wildlife and we work with communities, businesses and governments to help people live sustainably alongside wetlands. Our charity relies on the support and generosity of supporters.

"As a charity we rely on the support and generosity of volunteers."
