Grenfell Tower and surrounding blocks were lit up in green to mark the exact moment a year ago the devastating fire broke out in the building, claiming 72 lives.

Today marks 12 months since a small kitchen fire in the west London high-rise turned into the most deadly domestic blaze since the Second World War.

The 13 buildings were lit up just before 1am this morning, the time the fire is thought to have started. Downing Street was also illuminated and the tribute lasted until 5am.

They will also be illuminated for the next four evenings from 8pm until midnight.

The paper will be holding a minute's silence as a mark of respect for the 72 victims who lost their lives.
