A 21-YEAR-OLD Cam man has been handed a curfew after assaulting a police officer whilst drunk.

Bradley Bennett, of Draycott in Cam, appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on June 12, where he pleaded guilty to the two charges of assault on a police constable and being drunk and disorderly.

Both charges referred to May 13, where it was alleged Bennett had assaulted PC Edward Garlick in the execution of his duty on Cheltenham High Street.

Following the guilty plea, Bennett was handed a two-week community order, requiring him to wear an electronic tag and remain at his home in Cam from 7pm to 7am until June 25.

He was also ordered to pay compensation of £100 and a victim surcharge of £85.
