MOLLIE Tucker proved that you are never too old for adventure, when she became the oldest ever passenger to fly in a hot air balloon operated by Bailey’s Balloons of Bristol.

The 93 year-old of Dryleaze House, Wotton under Edge, went for the one-hour flight with 15 other family members, following her grandson’s wedding on Saturday, June 9.

Her grandson Jonathan Tucker, 40, arranged for 16 family members, including the newly weds, to fly from the wedding venue near Upton on Severn for a one-hour flight, the day after the wedding on Sunday, June 10, landing near the M50 south of Ledbury.

After the flight Mollie said: "Family members told me I had to be up at 6.30am to say goodbye to my Grandson, Jonathan and his new wife Anna off on their honeymoon, but when we arrived at the site, I was gently bundled into the balloon basket, with the other 15 of the family jumping in quickly just before the balloon left the ground".

Clive Bailey, owner of the balloon company said: "Mollie was a brilliant patron and took a great interest in the operation of the flight itself and also what was happening on the ground below.

"To be able to take a ride at her age was amazing and the oldest person we have ever had on board".

Mollie added: "I have always wanted to have a ride in a balloon, but, due to my age, had given up all hopes of doing so. The flight was completely unexpected, but it was a fantastic experience and I would like an even longer trip next time."
