Stroud and Cirencester Furniture Bank has opened its own furniture shop.

The opening of the store celebrates the third anniversary of the furniture-recycling project.

The Bank collects unwanted furniture from across the Stroud District, selling it to those who cannot afford to buy brand-new household goods.

Tim Lee, The Furniture Bank Manager said: “We want to help more and more families who are struggling, this is the main reason why Furniture Bank runs.

“After a recent delivery the family told us they had been without mattresses for two years and were going to have the first night of good sleep in years!

“The sales we make in the shop help ensure we are able to continue to help families with furniture and provide employment in the District.”

The shop, based in their warehouse at Unit 2a Brimscombe Port, is open from 9am-5pm on Thursdays and Fridays and the first Saturday of the month from 11am-2pm.

The Furniture Bank is hosting an evening with Stroud District Foodbank to discuss the work of each organisation and how they are working to end poverty in the District. This will take place from 7.30pm-9.30pm on Thursday, July 19 at St Lawrence Church Hall.
