An award winning drama group in Chipping Sodbury are gearing up for their next big show.

Sodbury Players Youth Section, otherwise known as SPYS, are performing 'Footloose' at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall.

The group have been rehearsing the show for over 4 months, and follows on from their sell out production of Beauty And The Beast last July.

The list of shows the group has done in the past also includes Fame (2016), Grease (2015), Bugsy Malone (2014) and The Wizard Of Oz (2013).

This production comes just after SPYS went all the way to the All England One Act Festival Final.

The groups production of 'Bodas De Sangre' was adapted by Director Ross Brown from Federico García Lorca's original play version.

The group, who were described by the adjudicator in the final as "some of the best youth performers" they had ever seen, beat off competition from over 100 other groups to get to the final stage of the festival in June.

This time the group are going to the USA with Ross Brown again at the directing helm, something which he admits is a 'very proud' to be doing again.

"The SPYS are going from strength to strength." He said.

"We are all looking forward to performing for the people of Chipping Sodbury once more.

"The kids are an absolute pleasure to direct and I know Footloose is going to be a very fun and exciting show. So I just want to encourage people to come and see these award winning youngsters."

Footloose includes great well-known songs including 'Holding out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let's hear it for the boy' and of course the title song 'Footloose'.

Tickets are available at ticketsource.co.uk/sodburyplayers and the show runs from 20 July to 21 July.
