A protest march in Wotton against Stroud District Council’s (SDC) proposed parking charges has been postponed
The peaceful protest march was scheduled to start at Co-Op car park on Long Street at 11am on Saturday, July 21.
Participants were then going to march up Symn Lane, along Bear Street, reaching the war memorial before heading back through town.
The decision was taking to suspend the march after Wotton Town Council objected to the proposed parking charges at a meeting on Monday, July 16.
SDC opened a consultation in June on introducing charges for its car parks in Dursley, Nailsworth, Wotton-under-Edge and Stroud, citing evidence doing so could increase shopper footfall for towns.
The consultation closes on Sunday, July 29.
