Wickwar Parish Council has advised residents in the area to maintain focus during the summer months in an attempt to keep crime down in the area.

The council has warned people to not become too complacent about their security throughout the season.

A statement read: “Take steps to make your house look occupied and maybe ask a trusted neighbour to open and close your curtains for you if you are going on holiday for a period of time.

“We also encourage anyone to report any suspicious activity and keep an eye on elderly and vulnerable neighbours who may be targeted by the unscrupulous.”

This comes after two PCSOs in Wickwar helped to prevent four women from committing fraud.

PCSOs Andrew Lagana-Forbes and Andrew Bray became aware of the situation after watching an elderly resident withdraw cash from multiple ATMs.
