A VERY theatrical duo are putting on an 'exciting' showcase of music in Yate.

Marienella Phillips and Bradley Parker are both graduates of dramatic arts schools, will be performing at St Paul's Catholic Church on Saturday, August 25 at 7.30pm.

They will be performing 'music for a summer evening', with popular operatic classics as well as famous musical numbers.

Marienella is a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, whilst Bradley was a student at Bath Spa University.

When talking of the evening, Miss Phillips admitted her excitement ahead of the event.

"It will be a relaxed evening of opera and musical theatre greats," she said.

"From Bizet's Carmen to Bernstein's West Side Story, there will be something for everyone to enjoy with even a little jazz sprinkled in for good measure.

"Excitingly, Bradley will be playing a few of his own creations on the night too.

"It will be family friendly with refreshments during the interval and part of the profits going towards Music in Hospitals are Care UK.

"Over the past two years while studying I have worked closely with the charity and know the great work they do around the country, providing music and entertainment to those who cannot access it freely due to sickness, being in care and more.

"We hope to put on a welcoming community night, spread awareness of the charity and raise money for a good cause."

Tickets for the event are £6 for adults and children under 15 years old are free. You can get tickets on the door of the event on the evening.
