RESIDENTS of Cam are being urged to have their say about a planning framework for future developments in the village.
Cam Parish Council is holding a series of open events at the offices in Noel Lee Way for people to meet councillors and volunteers who make up the steering group working on a Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP).
Councillor Christina Carter, the parish vice-chair, said: “We are trying to ensure the most appropriate housing developments for the village while maintaining and enhancing our green spaces.
“Most residents accept the need for more houses, but it’s not just about numbers.
"Poor design and lack of character are what most people object to.
"Why isn’t every new house architecturally attractive and as sustainable as possible? Why aren’t all new estates landscaped so they look appealing?
“We hope that as many local people as possible will have their say, so that our completed NDP will give us a powerful democratic voice with developers and designers of new housing estates in Cam.”
The open events are on Saturdays: September 8, October 13, November 10, December 8 and January 19, from 11am to 12pm.
