GROUND breaking research is taking place in Brimscombe where Electroflight Ltd are constructing electric aeroplanes.
The Gloucestershire company that studies the electrification of flight are working on their latest project with Rolls-Royce.
Roger Targett, managing director of Electroflight said: “We are delighted to be supporting Rolls-Royce with an integrated electric powertrain including an innovative energy storage solution.
“Our team comprises leading experts in electrification from the motorsport and automotive sector to assist our partners to accelerate the evolution of electric aircraft.”
In order to ensure the project’s success, they aim to flight test the system and in doing so gain a detailed understanding non jet fuelled planes.
Part of the ‘Electrification of Flight’ initiative which is led by Rolls-Royce aims to achieve the adoption of all-electric propulsion in aviation.
So, it seems prospective tourists may soon be travelling on electric aeroplanes courtesy of Brimscombe’s Electroflight Ltd, YASA who specialise in electric motors and Rolls Royce.
