A MAN who fell into a quarry after being involved in a car accident was rescued after a police dog tracked his location.
The man is believed to have become disorientated after being involved in a crash in a white Mercedes Sprinter van along Wickwar Road, Yate at about 4am this morning (Thursday, September 6).

No other vehicles are thought to have been involved in the accident which is thought to have left the man disoriented and confused.
After walking away from the vehicle he fell into the quarry.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "With concern for his well-being, we attended the scene with police dog Nerf, who managed to track the man to a nearby quarry.

"A large scale search and rescue operation was launched including ourselves, the National Police Air Service, Avon Fire and Rescue Service and South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust.
"The man was thankfully quickly located having fallen a significant height into the quarry. Partners worked together to make him safe before airlifting the man to Southmead Hospital."
A coastguard helicopter is believed to also have been involved in the rescue.

He is in a serious but stable condition.
Wickwar Road remained closed for much of the day, as accident investigation work from Bury Hill Lane to Southfield Way was carried out, but is now reopen.
