A PLAYGROUP in Uley is celebrating a glowing Ofsted report which praised the work of both staff and children.

Ofsted inspectors rated Uley Under Fives Playgroup as good, the second highest score, and said staff had a clear commitment to improve provision.

Lead inspector Zahida Hatia said: "Children are happy, settled and enjoy positive relationships with staff who know their individual needs well.

"Overall, planning and organisation is good, providing purposeful learning opportunities that support children in making progress in all areas of their learning and development.

"The staff have worked successfully to build partnerships with parents and links with other provisions are being developed."

The playgroup, which has 34 children on the register, said it was thrilled with the report.

Co-chairman Nikki Coates said: "It’s a fantastic result, we’re all really pleased with it. The children are all happy and confident, and they love the environment here. The staff are really positive and supportive."

The playgroup was told to extend resources to develop the sensory skills of younger children and improve systems to share children’s work to improve further.
