A YOUNG woman died after the Badminton Horse Trials on Saturday.
The woman, aged 20, was leaving the four-day event by coach at 7.50pm.
She got off the bus at Dunkirk, on the A46, and crossed the busy road between two parked cars.
The woman, from the Bristol area, was hit by a Toyota Yaris. A second vehicle, a Suzuki Vitara, was also involved in the crash.
The woman died shortly afterwards and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbourhood policing inspector for Sodbury Caroline Howard said: "The woman was leaving Badminton when she got off a coach at Dunkirk and crossed the road. She was hit by a car travelling in the other direction.
"The road had to be closed for several hours and there was a lot of queuing traffic on the A46.
"Our Road Traffic Collision unit is now investigating."
Avon and Somerset coroner Paul Forrest has been informed but an inquest into the woman's death has not yet been opened and her identity has not been released.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the crash to contact the collision investigation unit on 0845 456 7000 immediately.
