Science boost at school

STAFF and pupils at Marlwood School have been celebrating after winning special science funding.
The Alveston school was awarded the money and a Special Merit Award in the national Rolls-Royce Science Prize competition.
The prize will now help the school to design and develop a new form of science website, which will be part of work linked to the school's Science College status.
The website will be run by pupils and will allow people to ask scientific questions. The questions will then be answered by the pupils through different media such as animation.
The website will also provide hyperlinks to businesses with potential blogs being set up.
It is hoped the website will demonstrate the importance and benefits of science in the community.
Katie Redstone, from Marlwood School's science department, said: "This extra funding will provide specialist software and hardware to develop a really exciting website with the fullest possible involvement of our pupils."
