An INDEPENDENCE from EUROPE (AIP) have shown that they can better represent the UK, offer more choice to the electorate and for over ten years have exposed aggressive bureaucracy within Brussels and Strasbourg.

AIP will dissolve Britain’s political union with the EU but will retain close trading links with Europe. Britain’s economic base will be expanded with fair trade and closer links to the Commonwealth. Trading quotas will be removed and impoverished nations encouraged to become self sufficient, reducing the need for foreign aid.

The City of London will be protected from EU interference as an important aspect of Britain’s regeneration. Britain desperately needs to expand its industrial and commercial base and this is the only way to stem debt which, despite debilitating cuts, is continuing to rise.

AIP will abolish the Common Agricultural Policy and reinstate the British fishing industry. All his will be achieved by negotiation under the umbrella of the World Trade Organisation

Open borders with the EU will cease and there will be managed immigration. Britain would adopt a fairer system similar to that of Australia and migrant workers would need work permits.

AIP will ensure that there are better transport links across the South West and that Network Rail installs additional measures to protect the main line to Cornwall which is vital to restore business confidence and stimulate tourism. AIP would abolish red tape which is interfering with businesses across the region.

AIP will install better flood prevention measures and reverse the policy of allowing low lying areas to be returned to the sea. There will be more effective water management with adequate dredging of rivers. Extracted silt should be used to raise river banks and for land reclamation - not consigned to expensive land fill sites and regarded as industrial waste, as the EU insists.

Former public services that are seen to be failing would be returned to public ownership. Privatisation and the break-up of the NHS will be halted.

AIP will promote sustainable energy but would halt the spread of expensive wind farms, reverse under investment in the electricity generation industry and revitalise the British coal industry.

Better opportunities are needed in education with additional vocational training, apprenticeships and a transition to a more productive, high wage economy where workers get a fair deal. Taxation would be reduced and pensions protected. The 'Bedroom tax' would be abolished and affordable housing encouraged with safeguards against over development.
