HOW pleased we were to read your article "club to move to new ground" and in particular that it it is to be called Shaftesbury Park.
The Shaftesbury Crusade did excellent work in the Dings area of St. Phillips.
My Father, Father in law and Husband all played Rugby for the Dings on the Downs before Lockleaze came in to being.
My sister was a founder officer in the Girls Life Brigade at Lockleaze, whilst I was an officer in the St. Phillips branch.
Many people in Bristol and beyond are grateful to the founders of the Shaftesbury Crusade St.Phillips who came from Redlands Park Congregational Church and subsequently people from St.Phillips who founded the Lockleaze branch.
Shaftesbury Park will now keep the name of Shaftesbury going.
