YOU have spiced up the Neighbourhood Development debate in fine fashion ("Is it to be houses over jobs?" Gazette July 24).

Over the next few months the Neighbourhood Development Plan steering group will be increasingly asking Dursley residents what they want from the future development of our town. Is it reasonable to expect more sizeable businesses here? Is it so awful to be a "dormitory" town?

How do we balance the wishes of long-term residents with those who have recently moved here or want to do so because it is a beautiful yet fairly affordable place to live? How do we keep it green and how do we develop just the very things that make Dursley a good place to live?

Many people have already made their views known - at the Farmers Market, Dursley Festival and several community groups.

Now is the time for all Dursley residents to start asking what we really want. So please get thinking and involved!

We need v iews, opinions, feelings, experience and volunteers. Eventually we need lots of answers to a survey of all Dursley households.

Please get in touch for more information or to offer help with this vital project which will end up with a plan based on what local people think is important rather than what central planners and big developers think is convenient or profitable.
