I WOULD just like to thank everyone who helped Thornbury in Bloom prepare the town for the visit of the Britain in Bloom judges over the last couple of weeks. It was a privilege to show the judges so many aspects of the town that make it such a wonderful place in which to live. I know we live in a great town because so many people have told me so whilst I have been out and about working on the preparation. A huge effort has been put in by so many people, the list is very long indeed and would fill up the letters page! Anyone who looks round the town can see the impact they have on how everything looks. One of the judges has been known to say ‘wow!’ when he sees something he particularly likes, I heard him say this so many times as we toured the town.
I would though, like to make a special mention for the Litterbusters, who, in addition to their normal voluntary activities of tidying the town, even turned out the evening before the judges came. What a help that was!
Whilst we will have to wait until October to hear the judges verdict, I think I can safely say that residents and visitors already know that the town is looking great and they don’t need anyone to tell them!’
