WE read with interest the campaign for a zebra crossing in Knapp Road. Can we suggest that the whole issue of parking in Knapp Road, Easton Hill Road, Sibland Road and Crossways Road is looked at in more detail?
Currently, it seems that Crossways School in particular are not providing adequate parking for their staff, as they appear to have plenty of land available. This means that more traffic congestion is caused at other times of the day, not just at school opening and closing times. This also makes it more dangerous for all road users.
There has been a traffic watch campaign in Easton Hill Road in the past to try and get some sort of traffic calming measures installed. Unfortunately, it received scant support from any of the three schools, councillors or the police.
We must commend New Siblands School for re-organising their car park to provide more parking for their products staff and visitors. Why can't Crossways Schools do the same?
Before any decisions are made about installing new crossings, it's hoped that all local residents will be properly consulted. After all, we live here all the year round.
