I AM writing in response to the letter last week of Mr Rebbeck. I am bemused (Banksy style!) in terms of the language used and the laissez-faire attitude expressed.

Whoever says that that they are a "proud owner of a house..."(on a developing housing estate!)? Whoever says in a letter, in this case talking about the Butlins cabins as "beautiful contemporary homes"? In my experience, only, property developers and estate agents. Is Mr Rebbeck using your letters page as a PR exercise?

Interestingly Crest Nicholson are developing Potters Pond as well as recently having plans to develop around 80 houses in Kingswood turned down.

Mr Rebbeck talks about the housing needs of young people - no one would disagree with this - and that protests against any developments are selfish. The cheapest small three-bedroom house currently available on the Crest Nicholson building site is £280,000 with moving in costs this will come up to around £300,000. How many young people can afford this even working for Renishaw?

Further the Butlins cabins, by observation, are not occupied by young people - again at £300,000 plus - no surprise there.

So who is at fault; the developers or the protesters? In most cases protesters are wanting affordable homes for young people.

Mr Rebbeck talks of protesters having "Blinkered eyes on the past" - surely a stupid statement in the light of the current VW crisis brought to light by a non-profit small environmental organisation. Can companies be trusted to be moral, ethical and sustainable, the overwhelming evidence seems to be no.

So Mr Rebbeck are you a troll for the property developing industry?
