IT seems that the EU is now getting to grips with managing the migrant crisis (The Times, October 8).

Whilst acknowledging the tragedy of war torn Syria, surely the EU should be saying it will only take migrants who pass the asylum test? Also it will only take those with accurate papers, passports and with a correct identity that can be verified.

Those who can't be identified by papers, passports, testimonials, and/or finger prints, will be disqualified from claiming asylum in the first place. So to claim asylum; 1) your identity must be proven, and 2) you must meet the standards for a true asylum seeker. Those who don't meet 1) and 2) would be deported. Surely this is straightforward and can be agreed by EU states quite quickly?

We are not trying to be unfair. The opposite. We are trying to be fair. Because Europe cannot take unlimited numbers it has to apply fair filters such as those above.
