SO, councillor Brian Tipper thinks local councils should not ask for too much for the road and pavement infrastructure (Gazette, February 11 'Councillors warn parish not to ask for too much').

These roads and pavements are the lifeblood of the community and the safety of every man women and child in our area, let alone the country.

If these developers wish to build in our community this is the price they will have to pay.

We have a local plan that will take us up to 2030/31 - not far away.

I do hope our current Labour-controlled administration is now working on the next stage 2031onwards to stop developers trying to take the district council for a ride as they have done on the last two occasions.

What is the matter to be asking for so much? If you don't ask you don't get.

Traffic in our community will increase over the next few years or so by approximately five per cent and the population is increasing as well with the number of houses being built in the Stroud district.

Cam and Dursley needs better car parking, the song and dance that took place over the extension to the railway car park was a gnats bit, not worth talking about, don't our councillors realise Cam and Dursley are now a commuter village and town?

With all of the building work in this area - close to a thousand or more houses - it's a waste of time begging the district council to get their act together and re-appraise the situation.

We live in a trapped valley. At the far end there are two roads out, both uphill, where lorries get stuck at least once a week.

We have all seen with St Modwen's on the Lister Petter site; no road safety measures along the Kingshill road except a crossing, top of gasworks pitch minor work, no traffic lights or roundabout, nothing at the St George`s roundabout the entrance to the hospital to be altered for the third or forth time, the list is never ending.

I repeat again - if you don't ask you don't get.

And to top it all where is the conservative-led county council who are reasonable for the road infrastructure? They haven't a clue, as usual. Nothing like telling the truth.
