I OBJECT to the sale and development of Street Farm, Church Road, Cam for the following reasons:

1. Street Farms are of historical interest, and some might even date from the Bronze Age. A farm within a village is becoming increasingly rare, and is to be valued.

2. We do not need to build on green fields! We have several brown field sites locally that should be built on first. These are:

(a) The eyesore on Rowley, Cam that has been derelict for years and desperately needs sorting out.

(b) The Dursley garage site on the way down into Dursley from Cam. That too is an eyesore.

(c) The Newport Towers Hotel site on the A38. The worst eyesore of the lot!

3. We have hundreds of newly built houses on the Modwen site on Lister Petter land in Dursley, with hundreds more planned. What difference will 14 additional houses at Street Farm in Cam make?

4. That corner on Church Road is always busy and this development will only add to that. It is unsatisfactory as it is. Imagine how much more dangerous it will become with an additional 14 to 28 cars, and possibly more, using that junction.

5. Just because there is an empty field, doesn’t mean we have to build all over it.

I am at a loss to understand how a listed farm house building can have been de-listed. We are told it was listed by mistake! This really does stretch one’s credulity.

The only person to benefit will be the farmer selling the land and the developers building on it. And at what cost to the village, the environment, wildlife and the residents of Cam?

Residents who wish to object can write by February 25 to Stroud District Council quoting APP/C1625/W/15/3139586
