We really can't be serious £ 5000 for six self-watering planters (Gazette, February 18).

Why can't we fill the holes in our road surface with compost and let the good lord do the watering?

Berkeley must have the unenviable record of having the worst small town road surface in the UK. How we are not inundated with accidents is a mystery.

Drivers find all their attention is concentrated on dodging pot holes rather than looking out for pedestrians crossing the road.

Cyclists and bikers need a medal negotiating in the dark.

I know the council can't please all the people all the time and that they give of this time freely, but come on.

Planters or holes.
