THE headline in the Gazette ('Foreign Waste..,') was misleading and as chairman of Berkeley Site Stakeholder Group I wish to respond.

All the meetings that I have attended regarding the waste store, it has always been stated that any change to planning conditions, to take waste from any other English Magnox site would have to have appropriate planning permission from Gloucestershire County Council.

The waste from the two other sites that will be processed at Oldbury is expected to be no more than seven boxes.

The waste from Oldbury site is expected to be less than 10 per cent of the Berkeley waste that is presently being processed and stored at Berkeley.

And for which there is sufficient capacity in the already built store to accommodate this safely and securely.

Magnox will be holding drop in sessions for local residents to see the proposed change. Please look out for details in the local press.
