SO the final nail has been driven into the coffin with the long stay car park off Long Street to close on March 9.

Dursley's future and wellbeing has been put in jeopardy all because of a blinkered Labour party who can't see the woods for the trees and to top it all it's public money that bought the land and the public are not having a say on where our car park is. We want it near our homes not miles away.

With the long stay car park still open, the district council blandly issue a statement that you can park in May Lane car park - where, I would like to know, is that possible?

Haven't they done any surveys after dark? I doubt it.

The people at the bottom of Long Street and the Bymacks estate will have nowhere to park their cars after a day at work.

Wake up district council and come and live in this world, not the next.

The only place to park in that area is Lister Street and that is full all of the time, this is supposed to be a bypass route around our town not a car park.

As I have stated before, twenty odd spaces have been lost because of the new fitness suite [at Dursley Swimming Pool].

It's time to employ another traffic warden and introduce parking charges and fines.

Now let's get on to the planning department, with the sale of Lister Petter.

The planning department must have known about Dursley's parking problems even before pen was put to paper with St Modwen.

I'll put it down to loss of memory, that's about all you can say.

There must have been a planning brief somewhere, they were totally ineffective. Admit a mistake has been made but correct it.

Dursley's town council has tried to help with a deal with Sainsbury`s with the people who work in the town, a parking permit can be obtained for a small fee.

Once again where was the district council? I'll ask the cat.
