THE GAZETTE (May 19, 'Road is a fatality waiting to happen'.

Thank God it was only a minor injury to the youngster, but it will happen and someone will get killed if the county and district councils don't pull their fingers out.

As part of the grand scheme of things St Modwen's development was supposed to put traffic lights at Kingshill Lane (or as we know it Gasworks Pitch), a splayed turning left and right as well as a crossing across the road and override button for the fire engine to exit, a crossing at the school gates to get across the road and an update of the roundabout at St George's Road.

St Modwen have now pleaded poverty and the ruling party on the district council, the Labour Party, has let them get away with it. The same applies to the long stay car park in Dursley.

If these two decisions were in Dursley's interest then I am a Dutchman.

As well as the county also having no money, we will be lucky to see a new paint job on the existing road markings.

A life is more important whether it be a child or a grown up. The road system should have gone in first for the safety of the community with all of the material being moved about on the Lister site - another example of lining the developers pockets.

With the building of Rednock School, a red 30mph was painted on the road (pathetic).

With 1,200 children at the school a fatality is waiting in the wings.

Back last year it took over two months to repair the crossing lights, does anyone in our so called political class care? I doubt it.

Who is making these decisions is it the officers or the councillors? I ask, but we won`t get an answer, what a golden opportunity missed out on.

I challenge any of the three labour councillors to find out and publish the answer in the Gazette.
