THERE is a positive, patriotic case to be made why Britain should remain in Europe.

Together we have delivered decades of peace and prosperity, creating the world’s largest trading area, providing opportunities to live, work and retire across the continent.

What we have shared with our fellow Europeans has contributed to our increased security and sense of collective endeavour.

Many of the challenges we face today can only be addressed in a European, if not a global context: terrorism and crime, confronting climate change, tax avoidance and the migration crisis.

The EU has ensured that our beaches are clean, our air is safe and endangered species protected.

Many of our finest scientists have access to vital EU research projects.

Together the four parts of our United Kingdom are stronger in Europe. Europe is stronger with us.

Of course, the EU is far from perfect and like most institutions is in constant need of reform. But we do that by remaining in not leaving ourselves isolated and alone.

Only by standing tall as the sovereign state of the United Kingdom of whom we are rightly so proud can we play a leading part in shaping its future.
