SOUTH Gloucestershire police arrested a man shortly after reports that a house had been burgled.

It happened in Southmead Road, Filton, at about 7.35pm on Wednesday, February 3.

A man was spotted leaving a property by the householder's son, who immediately called the police. A man was arrested nearby at 7.45pm.

A 38-year-old man has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Neighbourhood Inspector Bob Evely said: "Calling the police immediately was exactly the right thing to do and we are very grateful for the assistance given to officers in finding a burglary suspect.

"South Gloucestershire is a safe place to live and work, but no one should be complacent about crime.

"Make sure you keep your property secure and look out for your neighbours."
