TWO thousand years of history are to be celebrated at a nature reserve near Wickwar.
A family day of fun and learning takes place at the Lower Woods Nature Reserve, on Inglestone Common lane next Sunday, September 7, (10.30am-5pm).
There will be guided archaeological and historical walks around the Roman villa remains and World War 2 sawmills and a marquee is being erected to house displays of the local archaeology finds, history and wildlife.
Experts from Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust will also offer geology walks through the woods and there will be family activity walks for children to enjoy.
Youngsters will also be able to join in rebuilding a replica Iron Age roundhouse and can see demonstrations of traditional woodland crafts including coppicing, charcoal burning and horse-logging.
There will be a pig roast and refreshments on offer.
