A SMALL church congregation is celebrating after completing a refurbishment at its chapel which members have been unable to use for two decades.
Tyndale Baptist Church has redecorated and fitted a new kitchen at the chapel in Little Sodbury End.
The church council decided to spend several thousand pounds on the project after it lost its permanent base on Heron Way.
The church was renting its headquarters but the deal fell through and members agreed they would invest in the old chapel.
Pastor Bert Weenink said: "We have not held regular services at the chapel for 20 years.
"But now we have reinstated our Sunday evening service at 6.30pm and can seat 65 people.
"There is nothing grand about it but it used to look really nice on the outside and now it looks good on the inside as well."
The chapel, which was built in 1890, has also recently been fitted with a new pulpit, a replica of the one used by William Tyndale when he preached at St Adeline’s Church in Little Sodbury.
William Tyndale lived at Little Sodbury Manor in 1522, where he commenced his translation of the Bible into English.
Morning services will continue at the church’s centre in Dodington Parish Hall, on Finch Road, at 11am every Sunday.
