POLICE in Coalpit Heath caught a teenager suspected of drug dealing because he ran off after bumping into passing patrol officers.
The youngster aroused suspicion when he ran away on Friday night after seeing two PCs and two police community support officers.
The police beat team gave chase and caught the teenager with 60 bags of suspected cannabis in his rucksack.
They also discovered a bag of white powder and have sent all the confiscated bags away for forensic analysis.
Acting Sergeant Neil Whyman said: "The suspected drugs seized were worth £300 and we have confiscated £75 in cash.
"This was a very good routine, pro-active stop by the neighbourhood policing team"
* A 16-year-old boy from Coalpit Heath was arrested on suspicion of the possession of drugs with intent to supply. He has been released on police bail pending further investigations and analysis.
