THE inaugural meeting of Yate In Bloom takes place later this month.
Anyone interested in joining the project to make Yate a prettier place is invited to the meeting on Wednesday, March 31 (4pm) at Poole Court.
Town and district councillor Sue Walker, who is behind the initiative, said: "The first project we will be looking at is to improve Yate Train Station. If that is a success we will go from there."
A plan to enter Yate into Britain In Bloom has been postponed until the new group is up and running.
"It would not be feasible this year," said Cllr Walker.
"We need to get businesses to sponsor containers and for local people to get involved. Residents who do not have gardens but are interested in gardening might wish to join us."
She added: "This is just the start with a view to really go for it next year."
