PLANS to transform a children’s play area in Yate have been completed.
Drawings for the refurbishment of the Howard Lewis park, on The Ridge, reveal it will include a new area of hardstanding for basketball and football.
There will also be a dedicated area for older children and more opportunities for exciting play for youngsters.
Yate Town Council is paying for the improvement package.
Mayor Cllr Ian Blair said: "The tennis court area will be slightly reduced and older play equipment will be removed.
"The flood lights which have not been used for some considerable time will also be removed.
"There will be plenty of landscaping to provide exciting plan as opposed to play equipment."
Cllr Arthur Adams said the plans drawn up by landscape architect Alison Brown were ‘about as good as it gets’.
Costings will be finalised before a public consultation on the plans gets underway.
