EVERYTHING at an infants school in Yate is ‘good quality’ with some outstanding aspects of the curriculum.
Ofsted inspectors said Broadway Infant School had improved substantially since the last report, giving it an overall rating of good.
Inspector David Carrington said: "Broadway Infant is a good school. Many improvements have been made since the headteacher joined in 2006 and nothing in the school is of less than good quality.
"There are several outstanding features, including the quality of care, guidance and support, pupils’ behaviour and the partnerships with outside groups that enable the school to provide learning opportunities that would otherwise not be possible."
He said the school was focused on achieving an ‘outstanding’ rating and there was capacity to do so.
"There is no complacency in school," he said. "Indeed, there is a contact drive to eliminate weakness. School leaders understand, for example, that while the promotion of community cohesion is good, pupils’ links with people elsewhere in the United Kingdom and overseas are not yet strong enough."
Mr Carrington said pupils visibly enjoyed school.
"The sheer enjoyment of learning is one of the first characteristics of the school that impresses the visitor," he said.
"Everywhere there are smiles, laughter and fun. This motivates the pupils to good work, as shown in the sample of work seen by inspectors."
The school was told to provide more creative and skillful learning opportunities and self-review activities and to develop links with other communities in the UK.
Headteacher Sue Tanner said: "Everyone at Broadway is very proud of their latest Ofsted inspection report, which recognises how the headteacher, governors, teachers, children, parents and carers all work together to provide the best possible education."
