GCSE results have improved for the third year running at a Yate school.
Yate International Academy achieved 74 per cent A* to C grades and 42 per cent A* to C grades, including English and maths.
According to the school girls did particularly well this year, including Paisley Carter, Abigail Hase, Olivia Nash-Morris and Sarah Wallis, who between them achieved a total of 33 A* and 12 A grades.
The successful exam results bring to a close the first year for Yate International Academy, formerly known as King Edmunds, which became part of the Ridings’ Federation in September last year.
Roger Gilbert, head teacher, said: "This year’s achievements by our Year 11 students surpassed our expectations.
"These results, along with the wonderful news regarding the new build at the academy, ensure an optimistic and strong position to begin the new academic year.
"These results for the academy reflect the hard work and dedication of our students, the support of parents, carers and the excellent teaching of the academy staff.
"I look forward to welcoming many of our students into the new Federation Sixth Form in September 2010."
