BUSINESS students from Winterbourne are getting into the swing of event management after holding a corporate golf day for charity.
The group of six Year 13 students from Winterbourne International Academy planned, organised and ran the event at The Bristol Golf Club in Almondsbury last Thursday.
Nineteen teams from as far away as Exeter and Taunton teed off and during the round, players were offered the opportunity to ‘beat the pro’ and make a donation for a buggie ride to the 18th hole. There were also prizes for nearest the pin, longest drive and best team.
Players were then treated to a demonstration by Paul Barrington, who has twice been named World Trick Shot Champion.
Project manager Alicia Booth said the day ran smoothly.
"It was a very successful day and everybody really enjoyed it," she said. "It has been quite stressful but it was worth it and we have all learnt a lot."
The event raised more than £500 for Help for Heroes.
