TWO women were taken to hospital after a three-car crash in Yate.

It happened just after 4pm last Wednesday on Eggshill Lane.

One of the women, who was in a Mazda car, suffered suspected neck injuries and the region’s air ambulance was used to transport a doctor to the scene.

The women, in her 20s, was assessed but her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. She was taken to hospital by road ambulance for a precautionary check up.

The second car involved in the accident was a Vauxhall. The male driver was unhurt, but the female passenger, a woman in her 50s, was suffering from suspected spinal injuries.

A spokeswoman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the Vauxhall and then worked with paramedics to assist the woman on to a spinal board.

"She was taken to hospital by ambulance and her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening."

The male driver of the third vehicle involved, a mini-bus, was unharmed in the accident.
