More tales of Hall Place rats

3:58pm Wednesday 22nd August 2001

Regarding your article on rats at Hall Place (News Shopper, August 8). I was with my mother, Mrs Hamilton, and my children when we saw these creatures both along the banks and swimming in the water and I would like to confirm they were certainly not voles. They most definitely had long tails.

This is not the first time I have seen these rats and several of my friends will confirm they have also spotted them at various times. I would be interested in how Bexley Council manages to “eradicate rats by putting down poisoned food wherever they are found” without harming other wildlife, particularly voles, assuming there are any voles of course?
