THE WORK of hundreds of selfless townspeople will be celebrated throughout 2013 as part of Thornbury Volunteer Centre’s silver jubilee.

The organisation will turn 25 next year and to mark the significant milestone, members will hold a series of charity events, workshops and fundraisers starting with a Launch Party.

Thornbury Volunteer Centre chairman Barbara Ray said: "Our silver jubilee year allows us the opportunity to celebrate the varied and important work of the centre.

"For a small local charity it’s a great achievement to reach 25 years and we want as many people as possible to embrace the work we do and encourage them to check out the programme and get involved in helping their local community to flourish and grow.

"A tremendous amount of planning and preparation has gone into these events and I hope everyone can get behind the celebrations to ensure our Silver Jubilee is a massive, well deserved success."

Established in 1988 by a small group of councillors and residents, the volunteer centre quickly grew in size and reputation.
