TWO men were arrested yesterday on suspicion of stealing tools, a van and a cocker spaniel in Thornbury.
The suspects aged 26 and 32 were apprehended by officers following a call from a member of the public who had spotted two men in a van behaving strangely before abandoning a dog.
The cocker spaniel had been snatched in Thornbury earlier that day.
The vehicle, which police believe was taken in London, was later found by the side of the raod just off the A38 in Rudgeway. It contained tools snatched earlier that day in Thornbury.
The men remain in police custody today, Thursday, February 7.
Thornbury neighbourhood Sergeant Victoria Lansdown said: "We are very grateful to the member of the public who called us after becoming suspicious of the behaviour of two men in a van. I'd always say that if you are in any doubt give us a shout."
